Six Core Pillars

OUR SISTERHOOD IS BUILT ON

ACADEMICS, ATHLETICS, FUNDRAISING, PHILANTHROPY, SISTERHOOD, AND SOCIAL.

TOGETHER, THESE PILLARS ENCOURAGE OUR MEMBERS TO GROW AS INDIVIDUALS, BUILD MEANINGFUL CONNECTIONS, AND MAKE A POSITIVE IMPACT BOTH ON CAMPUS AND BEYOND.

Academics

Nu Sigma Pi strongly values academic achievement and encourages every sister to succeed in her respective program. We support one another by sharing textbooks and resources, tutoring each other, and recommending courses for the upcoming school year. We also regularly book study rooms on campus to study together, creating a supportive environment that keeps us motivated and accountable throughout the year.

Our alumnae are another incredible resource. With sisters working as teachers, entrepreneurs, federal employees, artists, and professionals across a wide range of industries, we have a strong network we can turn to for advice and guidance. Whether we have questions about graduate programs, career paths, or entering the workforce, our alumnae are always happy to share their experiences and support the next generation of Nu Sigma Pi sisters.

Athletics

Nu Sigma Pi promotes an active, healthy, and balanced lifestyle. Throughout the school year, we love getting together for fun activities such as yoga, Zumba, skating, hiking, and so much more. There’s nothing better than working out alongside your sisters and having that extra motivation to push yourself!

Staying active is also a great way to take a break from the demands of school. Whether we’re getting our hearts racing or simply spending time together, our athletic activities give us the chance to de-stress, recharge, and take our minds off midterms and finals.

Whatever the activity, we believe that staying active is even better when you’re doing it with your sisters!

Fundraising

As sisters of Nu Sigma Pi, we take pride in keeping our membership dues among the lowest on campus. We’re able to do this through the support of our campus community and the many fundraising events we organize throughout the year.

Our fundraisers are a great way to bring sisters together while connecting with the broader Greek community. Some of our favourites include our themed pub nights, which we host twice a year, as well as our Krispy Kreme Donut Sale, Bake Sales, NSP Greek Pageant, and Nu Sig Pie.

We’re incredibly grateful for the continued support we receive from our campus community, as well as from fellow sororities and fraternities. Their support allows us to keep our dues accessible while continuing to create meaningful experiences for our sisters.

Philantrophy

Giving back is an essential part of the Nu Sigma Pi experience. Throughout the year, we dedicate our time to supporting our philanthropic partners, including Women’s Groups and Services and the Heart & Stroke Foundation, while also giving back to our local community.

Our sisters have organized and participated in initiatives such as clothing drives for the women’s shelters, creating seasonal care packages for people experiencing homelessness, and writing holiday cards for children at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario.

We also love supporting the philanthropic initiatives of other fraternities and sororities, including Sigma Chi’s Derby Days. We are incredibly proud of the impact our sisters make and what our Greek community accomplishes together each year.

Sisterhood

At Nu Sigma Pi, what we cherish most is the sisterhood we share. Our sorority is made up of strong, caring, intelligent, and dedicated women who celebrate and support one another through every stage of life.

From the moment new members join Nu Sig, they are welcomed into a variety of events and activities designed to build connections with their pledge sisters and the active members.

What makes our sisterhood so special is everything in between: the funny moments, the serious conversations, and all the memories we create together. We constantly learn from one another, encourage each other to grow, and celebrate each other’s successes. Most importantly, we know we’ll always have sisters in our corner.

Social

Nu Sigs love bonding not only with our sisters, but with members of other Greek organizations across Ottawa. Each semester, we take part in social events like themed mixers, bowling, karaoke nights, and more. But these friendships go far beyond planned events. We spend so much time together throughout the year that many of these connections become genuine, lifelong friendships.

One of the best parts of Greek life is the everyday connections. Whether you’re walking across campus, sitting in class, or looking for a study buddy or lab partner, spotting someone wearing their Greek letters often means finding a familiar face and a potential friend.

From spontaneous coffee runs to late-night study sessions and weekend adventures, there are always opportunities to connect and create memories that last well beyond university.
